How to Enroll in Benefits

Enrolling in benefits is quick and easy through the First Lantern Benefits Portal.

Before You Begin

Please have the following information available:

  • Social Security numbers for dependents
  • Dates of birth
  • Beneficiary information
  • Contact information for covered dependents

Enrollment Steps:

Step 1: Review Your Options

Compare available medical, dental, vision, and voluntary benefit plans.

Step 2: Select Your Coverage

Choose the plans that best fit your needs and add eligible dependents if applicable.

Step 3: Add Beneficiaries

Designate beneficiaries for life insurance and retirement plans.

Step 4: Confirm Your Elections

Review your selections carefully before submitting your enrollment.

Enrollment Information

Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is held annually each fall and provides employees the opportunity to:

  • Enroll in coverage
  • Change existing elections
  • Add or remove dependents
  • Update beneficiary information

2026 Open Enrollment Dates:

October 26, 2026 – November 13, 2026

All benefit elections must be submitted by 11:59 CT on November 13, 2026.

Changes made during Open Enrollment become effective January 1.

New Hire Enrollment

New employees have 30 days from their hire date to complete benefit elections.

If elections are not completed within the enrollment window, employees will need to wait until the next Open Enrollment period unless they experience a qualified life event.

Qualifying Life Events (QLEs)

You may make benefit changes during the year if you experience a qualified life event, including:

  • Marriage or divorce
  • Birth or adoption of a child
  • Loss of other coverage
  • Change in employment status
  • Death of a dependent

Supporting documentation may be required. Benefit changes must typically be submitted within 30 days of the event.

Benefits Eligibility

At First Lantern, we’re committed to supporting employees and their families with comprehensive benefits coverage.

Who Is Eligible?

Employees regularly scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible for company-sponsored benefits.

When Coverage Begins

Benefits become effective on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.

Eligible Dependents

Eligible dependents may include:

  • Legal spouse
  • Domestic partner (where applicable)
  • Children up to age 26
  • Disabled dependents who meet plan requirements

Making Changes to Coverage:

Outside of Open Enrollment, benefit elections may only be changed if you experience a qualified life event, such as marriage, divorce, birth/adoption, or loss of other coverage.

Evidence of Insurability

Certain supplemental life insurance elections may require approval through Evidence of Insurability (EOI).
